years in prison. >>> illegal drug use is at the highest level we've seen in nearly a decade. the government report from the substance abuse and mental health services administration found that marijuana use rose by 8%. that remains the most commonly used drug. researchers say all the attention focused on medical marijuana has sent the wrong message to young people. cocaine abuse is also continuing to decline. >>> 6:32 right now. it's a video caught on police dash camera. it will make you cringe. it led to the firing of one dallas police officer. you can see the crews are following andrew collins on a motorcycle. the cruiser appears to hit the bike and collins falls. that's when you see the two officers jump on him and they start hitting him. this video doesn't even show all of what happened. 22 officers showed up and six officers actually made contact with collins. collins was hospitalized but is expected to be okay. no word right now on why these officers attacked him. >>> there are religions based on one god, on multiple gods, even on nature itself, but what about a religi
about it. abc 2 news' sherrie johnson joins us live with more this morning. >> reporter: good morning, megan. that's right, some parents are fed up and they would like to see an addition built on here at hampton elementary school to get the students out of these trailers and into better classroom facilities here and to prevent that overcrowding. again, they say they thought construction was supposed to start but it hasn't. they are ready for that to begin. right now the elementary school is designed for 300 students. it opened last week with more than 500. the school has eight trailers outside. four on each side to help with the overcrowding. hampton's pta president said every fourth and fifth grader will be in a trailer. and parents say they are happy with their old building, they just want it to be bigger. county officials say countywide referendum is needed before funding for the addition can be approved. >> there's no construction starting because we didn't get the funding. parents were shocked. >> with an overcapacity in the towson area of well over 300 students, bcps and county
, sun bleached signs neglected, several store fronts empty. the county believes the best use of this space is a hotel or some type of mixed use development. the county has set aside some money to help redevelop the commons and pledged to do so if it agrees with the vision of the new owner. >> towson has everything going for them demographickicly, education wise, income wise. there's no reason why this location can't support a much, much better use. >> so once again, that auction starts at 1:00 p.m. today on the steps of the county courthouse in towson. reporting live in towson, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. >> look at stories making headlines this morning. a wild fire caused an evacuation of about 1600 homes. 1600 homes in utah. the fire started when live ammunition from a nearby national guard firing range ignited the dry brush. in these conditions, not sitting well with some residents. some of whom lost their homes and with the dry season, conditions are prime. o recent fire destroyed 166 homes, just one of several big fires across the west since july. >> a kentucky man a
